Synopsis

Featuring Ayckbourn's trade mark sharp humour and wry observation, seemingly unremarkable lives are revealed as unexpectedly eventful. Guy Jones, a widower in a new town joins the local amateur light opera society. His rise from a one-line walk-on to the lead in John Gay's 'The Beggars Opera' is the catalyst for funny revelations and painful observations as repressed emotions break out to the surface.
